Learning Objectives

  • Identify God’s original pattern for leadership in creation and redemption.
  • Understand how divine leadership differs from worldly authority.
  • Recognize their own leadership as stewardship under God’s order.
  • Form a biblical mindset for leading with humility and purpose.

Teaching Content

Every great leader begins somewhere, but divine leadership begins with God Himself. From the opening chapters of Genesis to the life of Jesus, we see that leadership was never man’s invention — it was God’s reflection.

“Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule…” — Genesis 1:26–28

Leadership is not domination but stewardship — a reflection of God’s order, wisdom, and care. Leadership divorced from God’s character becomes control. Leadership patterned after Christ becomes service that transforms.

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus…” — Philippians 2:5–11

Creation shows the structure of leadership. Christ reveals the spirit of leadership. The Cross demonstrates the sacrifice of leadership. The true measure of leadership is not how many follow us, but how clearly we reflect Him.

Scripture Integration

  • Genesis 1:26–28 – Leadership begins with divine design.
  • Philippians 2:5–11 – Leadership modeled through Christ’s humility.
  • Matthew 20:26–28 – “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.”

Reflection & Discussion Prompts

  • How does Genesis 1 reshape your understanding of what it means to lead?
  • In what ways can humility strengthen your influence rather than weaken it?
  • Where might God be calling you to lead by example rather than instruction?
“Leadership is not about power, position, or platform. It’s about reflecting the heart of the One who leads you.”
Mentor’s Insight: Encourage learners to identify one area this week where they can intentionally lead by serving — at home, at church, or within their organization. Follow up in the discussion forum with short testimonies on how it impacted others.
